Welcome to Barclay Roto-Shred Inc. Our company has been manufacturing shredders for the tire recycling industry. This has lead to the development of our 4.9" Primary Shredder. This shredder is designed to take whole tires as large as 72" in diameter and cleanly shear them into 4.9" strips. Some uses being found for this shredder are:

* Pre-Shredding - No longer do you have to rely on those high priced, high maintenance shredders to take a whole tire to chips. By simply putting our 4.9" Primary Shredder in front of your current shredder, you will be able to increase production, decrease maintenance costs, and open your business to accepting larger sized tires that you could not have processed before.

* Landfilling - since landfilling whole tires is no longer an option in most areas, a single pass through our 4.9" Primary Shredder is one of the most acceptable and cost effective ways to process a tire for a landfill or monofill.

* Tire Pile Cleanup - Our 4.9" Primary Shredder can be easily mounted on a trailer along with a generator and moved across the tire pile or across the country. By bringing the shredder to the tires instead of the tires to the shredder, your transportation costs are cut in half, giving you a competitive edge over others bidding the cleanup.

* ADC & Civil Engineering Chips - In some configurations, strips from the 4.9" Primary Shredder can be recirculated for further volume reduction or classified into 4.9" chips.

Fully wired to accept line connection. Remote mounted Start/Stop/Reverse/Feed Start/Feed Stop control box. Sequential control of shredder and infeed conveyor.

Emergency Stops:
The shredder intially have two stops wired to it. One is on the electical panel and the other is on the pendant. Two more stops are supplied to the customer for wiring onto the out-feed conveyors, which is suppilied by the customer. If you choose to get a conveyor with the shredder, the shredder + infeed-conveyor will have a total of 4 emergency stops. The two additional stops are wired onto each side of the infeed conveyor.

9 1/2" Diameter, heat treated alloy material.

Cutting Knife:
Cruwear(R) (More wear resistant than other materials). 1 1/2" Thick, Heat Treated & Precision Ground Flat & Parallel .0005". 240 per shredder.

Cutting Rotors:
12 cuts @ 4.9" Spacing. Cutting Box Width: 72". Tolerance between cutters are held within.002".

Drive Train Protection:
Couplers with shear pins between the 50 HP gearmotor and the shredders own gearbox protect from materials that are potentially damaging to the shredder (ie. rims left in tires).

Fixed with replaceable wear plates.

Lower roller guides tires from conveyor to shredder.
Upper wheels on an articulating arm grip tires and pull them into the shredder.
Both are driven from the main shafts with overload protection via clutch.

Infeed Conveyor:
40 feet/min.
Uses spring steel slats to convey tires.
Electrical quick-connect to shredder.

Shredding Capacity:
